Bailout Blues

After Obama criticized the Wall Street bankers for using taxpayers money of the bailout to pay themselves hefty bonuses, across the Altantic it was Angela Merkel’s turn – Merkel criticises banks for paying hefty bonuses to executives

Coincidentally enough, the premiers talk in the same language as their largest institutions ( read Deutsche Bank and Ciitbank ) struggle to keep afloat amidst the all pervading gloom. Joseph Ackermann though, yet to show any gesture matching Vikram Pandit’s w r t to salary and bonuses after this announcement - Deutsche Bank reports net loss of EUR 3.9 billion for the year 2008 .

Germans hardly take things personally, afterall.
